Lower ohm (fewer turns) indicates lower output level, and less coloring. |

Lower impedance (ohms) pickups capture less noise... so they don't need to be humbuckers, which can kill high-frequency response. The Rickenbacher horseshoe pickup is about 2kohms... and dead quiet. Same for the Aiello focused-magnet ones... very low impedance, high output, low noise. _________________ Too much junk to list... always getting more. |

Ray,
Practically speaking if the only difference between pickups is the ohms a 17.5 K pickup will be a little brighter sounding than an 18.5K pickup.
Most pedalsteel guitar pickups are pretty much the same in terms of basic construction and function. _________________ Bob |
