I recently bought a Shadow pick up for my Fender Kingman. It only cost about 50 Euros and because of the low price I knew that wouldn't get the perfect acoustic sound. But I sounds so unique when I plug it in. I love that tone!

Is that a 60's Kingman, Joachim?

Most probably, Godfrey. My father bought it for me at music store in Frankfurt in 1970. It wasn't cheap, also. The metal rod you can see in the sound-hole had a pickup screwed on, but we left it there, because it would have cost to much. With the thousand D- Marks for the guitar my dad was already on his limit.

Not to worry, Joachim. There's a guy down in Texas who has an old acoustic guitar with a pickup who doesn't "get the perfect acoustic sound" either. He seems to have done okay for himself.

Nice looking instruments, those old Fender flattops. Somewhat reminiscent of Travis' original Bigsby-necked D-28.

Yes Jack. And I always liked the old pictures of acoustic guitar players like Tim Hardin that had pickups on their soundholes.
