I recently bought a Shadow pick up for my Fender Kingman. It only cost about 50 Euros and because of the low price I knew that wouldn't get the perfect acoustic sound. But I sounds so unique when I plug it in. I love that tone!

Most probably, Godfrey. My father bought it for me at music store in Frankfurt in 1970. It wasn't cheap, also. The metal rod you can see in the sound-hole had a pickup screwed on, but we left it there, because it would have cost to much. With the thousand D- Marks for the guitar my dad was already on his limit. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Not to worry, Joachim. There's a guy down in Texas who has an old acoustic guitar with a pickup who doesn't "get the perfect acoustic sound" either. He seems to have done okay for himself.
Nice looking instruments, those old Fender flattops. Somewhat reminiscent of Travis' original Bigsby-necked D-28. |

Yes Jack. And I always liked the old pictures of acoustic guitar players like Tim Hardin that had pickups on their soundholes. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
