Do any Forumites own an original Sierra Z leg psg?
The only one I saw was a Turquoise double neck guitar at the Flame Cafe in Mpls. in the early 1970s.
It was owned by Ray Jensen from northern California.
These guitars were built by Chuck Wright.

That's the Brad's Rack youre talking about. Invented by Tom Bradshaw. Never caught on. BTW Ray Jensen is a WONDERFUL steel player |

Hi Billy, I believe the Z leg was the standard for those early Sierra guitars and the "Brads Rack" was an optional fancy leg that looked like a Singer sewing machine. Perhaps David Wright will chime in and let us know.

Hi Roger
Is this what you were referring to ?.
I also have a picture of the Brads Rack version that has bunches of grapes and fancy metalwork. A work of art.

Barry

Hi Barry, Yes it is. Thanks so much for this picture.
I believe Ray's psg was a D-11. I'll bet this D-12 must weigh at least 100 lbs in the case.(about 45 Kilos?)
Barry, could you include a pic of the "Brads Rack"?

Hi Roger
Don't you just know it, as soon as you say you've got something, you can't find the damn thing. However I will find it and post it. In the meantime I've found another picture of the Brads Rack
on a D11, twin pick-ups and 12 pedals. Hows that for guys with a bad back.!
Regards
Barry

Brads rack was Tom's idea, as I recall, you talk about a sturdy guitar!! you could park a car on it!! and you needed a fork lift to move tne damm thing!!.. I think steel players were in much better shape in them day's!! never got to many complaints!!!.. Great pictures guy's.... |

Hi again Roger,
Yet another Sierra picture with the Brads rack.
Is this the purple one you were talking about ?.
I bet this also weighed a ton, great colour though.
I will post the fancy rack picture when I can find the damn thing.
Regards
Barry

Hi Barry,
Thanks for the pics. All the steel guitar pics posted so far are the "Z" Leg style.
The fancy leg that resembles a Singer sewing machine is the "Brads Rack" model.

Wow, those are cool. Did the legs collapse or disconnect somehow from the guitar? |
