Lost in the thread about "Silver Threads..." was Johan Jansen's post asking who the steeler was here:

It's from Jimmy Carter's inaugural gala, which puts it in January 1977. The steel is a Sho-Bud. All that is ever shown is the hands, so the answer would have to come from that, the playing style, or historical or personal knowledge (which isn't always unreliable! )
I think it's safe to say it isn't Buddy Emmons! |

I will take that as a knowledgeable response. Without it, I was going to say that I'm looking at this side-by-side with DD on Blue Bayou and I would say that the bar grip looks identical. |

Credit where credit is due: Herb Steiner answered this as well in the other thread, but it was easy to overlook in the context.
In the comments, somebody quotes Linda as saying she was terribly nervous, and you can really hear it at the beginning of the song! |
