About 3 weeks ago, I woke up and the room was spinning. No hang over! I went to the doc and it was inner ear infection again. I had it last yr. The big problem is, 'I can't drive'. He gave me LevaQuin for 7 days. 3 weeks later, I still can't drive! Last yr, it lasted 5 days. Anyone have this problem?
#2 I went to New Orleans and saw a jazz? band on Decatur street. They didn't want to take the time to talk to me. When I said I play steel, the guys starts humming the ol Steel Guitar Rag. I told him he's far behind in times. I told him gutars players in Dallas/Ft Worth play 20 times better than what I heard here. It was an insult but, when I saw the attitude, I brought it up. I mentioned some big names and they never heard of them.? I was dis-appointed and didn't waste my time. When he said, 'they're there and we're here', I thought, you better be glad they're not here or you'd lose the gig. They were not hot at all. I guess I was suprised how back-ward they were and not interested in talking to out sider. I blew it off. Un-pro attitude not taking any time. |

Ted,What you have is Vertigo,I had it about twenty years ago, mine lasted for 6 months. After a battery of tests at UCLA Medical center it was determined that mine was caused by a virus that was so minute that it could not be detected, the Doctor told me that it would work like a L/R balance control on a stereo and it would correct itself,Finally it did. What makes the room seem like it's spinning is called Nystagmus, the pupils twitch, there could be a number of causes for that,One of the tests that I underwent measured how far the pupils moved, that way they determine the cause. One of the causes could be a tumor between the middle ear,and the brain, another cause is the fluid in the middle ear becoming to thick..viscosity,that will also cause Vertigo.Mine only happened when I would lay down,or tilt my head to one side,Playing music was awful,I was always behind the beat time wise, and I knew it but couldn't correct it.You might want to get some serious tests.Stu _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... Ted, I went thru many tests in 2001-2002 and had vertigo(dizzy spells) tenitis(constant ringing in the ears), and nausea. I was checked inside and out, MRIs of the entire body, went to a nuero-surgeon, psychiatrist, ear-nose-throat. In this period of say 8 months I continued having vertigo and almost constant tinitus. One spell lasted 6 days, so dizzy I had to walk with a cane. An E-N-T here in San Antonio determined I had Menieres Disease which has no cure, that scared me. Turned out the treatment used was a diuretic, and tranquilizer.
I don't do the controlled substance type of meds so they gave me a med used for irritable bowel syndrome. Did the same thing as the controlled but not habit forming.
Also check for I believe its Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome. Gives the same symptoms. Most people have 2 electrodes in their hearts, a WPWS patient has 3. Birth defect, from the mothers side, Dr. said not to worry about having it removed if it isn't bothering you. Symptoms, vertigo, tinitus, flushed face, nausea, heart beat is not quite right. All the testing was necessary to determine I did not have diabetes, a tumor, or many other ailments that could cause the vertigo etc. I've lived with the Menieres for 6 years and the spells come further and further apart. I don't get alarmed too much now, just take it easy and relax. Barometric pressure also will affect it...Joe Rouse |

Thanks for suggestions! Ernest, I was on vacation and asked them not to book that week end. Speakin of work, I stopped by a club in Ft Worth where I worked and got $100 per nite. The new owner said we pay $200 per 'band'. I assume garage band. I walked away. We had the same problem with a club in Dallas 2 weeks ago. The $3.03 a gal is hurting them. History profits.?
I do hope I get this problem resolved. I can walk and sit but can't drive. If I drive, I can drive slow. I'm going back to the doc tomorrow. I hope an anti-biotic will do the trick. Last yr, it lasted about 5 days. |

Ted
There is a guitar player in this area that had a similar condition , it
was discovered that it was caused by a medication for psoriases . and
for another medication for arthritis .
There was another person I recently heard about , having Sleep apnea .
it had something to do with a breathing device used at night . all of these
caused the vertigo condition .
Good luck in your recovery

I believe the apnea still exist . the vertigo was a result of pressure
induced by the air machine .
I will inquire further and eMail you the info if you would like !

Again, thanks for the replies. I sure hope it's not an extensive test ordeal. Like I mentioned, I can walk, play, sit - it's just that the car gets me paniky. After driving over a million miles, this really surprises me. |

I too, encountered an inner ear situation about one year ago. When I'd rise up from lying on my back in bed and start the roll-over to my side, I'd immediately become extremely dizzy and sick at my stomach. This was a definite barrel roll visual sensation and last for nearly a month. It just sorta went its own way.
More recently, I experienced a soreness at the back of my ear on my skull bone. As I'd raise up, instant nausea would occur but this time, my visual dizzy motion was spinning around like I had a pin-wheel type device stuck into my belly button and I was sinking into the bed. Very rapid and instant sickness that would leave me messed up for the better part of the day.
I use an Apnea machine and thus far, none of my distress has been linking to it. Altho' this last bout with the pain above my ear, might possibly have been so linked. I simply massaged that sore spot in a back and downward motion while driving and after several minutes, it would be sore I couldn't touch it. The dizziness is NOW GONE! |

It doesn't help mine.
The outer layer of the three-ply skin of my right eardrum was burst when somebody fired off a .45 auto a couple of feet from my head when I was 17 (I'm 53 now). Once in a while I'll still have a minor balance problem, and I've had the "boiling grease" sound in my right ear ever since it happened.
I've just learned to live with it, since none of the doctors I've gone to have been able to do anything for it. _________________ On Earth, as it is in Texas |
