John, thanks for that picture! I just saved it to my computer. That brought back a lot of memories of Artie with that great big smile of his. I have some photos somewhere of us at the Swizzle Stik in Huntington Beach, if I ever get through all the boxes in the garage I'll send 'em to you........Jerry in Va.

Jay Dee Maness told me many years ago that Art Sanchez was a big influenence during his development as a steel player. I would have liked to have heard him. What did he play like? -MJ-

Michael... Art played a lot of Weldon Myrick's style. He told me Weldon was his hero (as we all have one or more heroes). But Art put some of his own slant on the style also. He was a very good, commercial steel player and was a friend of mine, also.

John, the blond looks a lot like Judy Lee (drummer/vocalist) and the guy with long hair and glasses is Jack Armstrong who was a pretty good bassman. Jack died recently but I don't remember from what. That would have been the band Art was in when they played over on Hawthorne Blvd. I believe. I went to see him there once but I can't remember the name of the club........JH in Va.

John, thanks for posting those. I'll alert Monte Paul to it as he surfs the Forum also. Your dad was a great player and one helluva nice guy to boot. It was a pleasure standing next to him six nights a week and trying to catch some of his licks. Every time he'd hit something hot he'd look up at me and smile. If he made a clam he'd look over and frown at me and then laugh his @$$ off.......I miss the dude.......JH in Va.
