For sale is one of Jimmie Crawford's JCH guitars.
D-10 with 9 pedals and 9 knee levers(currently set up 8+9, but pedal 9 included complete to add if you choose). Emmons setup with a pair of Geo. L 10-1 pickups, triple raise/lower, aluminum necks, Sperzel tuners and custom made graduated roller nuts. Condition is very good+ to excellent with like new gloss black mica. Tone is to die for. Fat, full, rich and singing. Sustain and separation is amazing. Chuck Back of Desert Rose Steels helped set it up and says it is as good a sounding guitar as the best push/pull he's ever heard. (He told me I could quote him on it!)
I bought this guitar back in the late 1990's and it has sat virtually unplayed here in Tucson since then. Don't know the date of manufacture, but serial # is 1006. Includes original case.
This is the real Nashville machine and it belongs in the hands of a really good player. Price is $2995 plus shipping and insurance from Tucson. Lower 48 sale only.

Jerry, There's a lot of hardware under the hood and my bathroom scale shows somewhere near 48 lbs. for the guitar. The case adds about 17 lbs. more.

Yup, there's nine levers and the ninth pedal appears in the photo as currently unused and disconnected. Five levers for the LK E9, two centered LK C6, and two levers for the RK for both necks.

Very Nice and very tempting.
I have a similar D-10 finished in December of 1984 serial#1026 with the original/BL 705 blade style pickups, so this one was probably made in 1983 or so. One of the very first ones made I'd guess. I'd love to hear it !

Kerry, I would have guessed about mid '80's, but never really knew. Thanks. This guitar has spent many years in storage and doesn't look anywhere near it's age. Fresh gloss black mica helps.
Yes, you would love to hear this instrument, but if you already own one, you already know what I'm talking about.
More photos!

Hey John,
thats a great guitar you got there.Looks alot like mine. There was a clip of John Hughey playing his with Vince Gill on youtube not long ago (pocket full of gold) from back in the 90's and his tone was greater than usual. Jimmie could really build 'em. |

Trap, I posted this at the Dutch JCH posting, but isn't the switch on my JCH a late model switch according to you? It is likely an '80's guitar and the switch is original. Are you sure that's right? |

John,
I was going to ask you about that on your pic you posted.Right before Jimmie died I brought my guitar to him to add some knees and to fix the button switches. He told me the buttons were no longer available and he would have to machine a new plate for the toggle switch to fit as the button holes prevented the old plate from looking right. When I got the guitar back the plate looked almost similar to yours except for a milled lip that goes over the body.Every older JCH I have seen has had the button neck switches.I have had 2- an '87 and my current guitar # 1054. I did a search on the old forum and according to your serial # it dates it to be a very early model.Check out this post awhile ago.Its got some good info on it.I would think with your serial # either the original owner specified he didnt want the button switches and got jimmie to replace them with a single toggle or it was later replaced.Jimmie said he was going machine a plate for his guitar when he did mine.

Trap, Thanks for the info. The part looks original(ie equal wear to rest of instrument) so I suspect it is the one Jimmy put on. I do recall the buttons on a mid '80's model I have played, but never gave it much thought. All the later models I have seen or played have the identical switch and block to mine. I suppose it really doesn't matter, and now we'll never know. |

Does "fresh gloss black mica" mean the mica has been replaced? |

Yes. Newly done and perfect. The original mica was loose and orange/red, so I went for replacement rather than repair. Glad I did! |
