Hey steelers, Happy new year and good tone to all!
It my distinct pleasure to announce that i am producing the new Campbell Brothers CD (my dream come true, they are my favorite band!). It is from 2 live shows that I put on with the Campbells this jazz fest in New Orleans. I got some of the best brass players in N.O., including Dirty Dozen Brass Band founding member and undisputed king of the funky sousaphone, Kirk Joseph, and great vocalists including Terrance Simien, Shannon McNally and Arlee Leonard to join the Campbells and Denise (Brown, their cousin and lead vocalist) on stage and tear the roof off! It was a magic weekend in a tiny, great sounding bar, and the mixes are coming out great. You gotta hear Dave Easley playing "The Storm is Passing Over" with the Campbells, or Darick ripping up "A Change is Gonna Come" with a full horn section. Chuck, as to be expected, played some of the heavist stuff I have ever heard. Spiritual stuff, and exquisite steel playing.
I should also add that this project only came about because the Campbell Brothers band volunteered to fly to N.O. out of the goodness of their hearts to do a benefit for the New Olreans Musicians' Clinic. The only thing that surpasses the Campbells' musicianship is their warmth and dedication to helping their fellow man through music.
Stay tuned for updates! |
