Many will remember this one from the 70's
by Mason Williams,,,a great solo.
Lately I have been working on it with the
Gibson BR-9 6 string standard C6th and not
surprisingly all of the notes are there
but not necessarily in the low octave.
I have learned not to discard a song because
I cannot penetrate the low end. I just take those low notes and write them in an octave
higher and found it not only works but lends a somewhat different sound for a Lap Steel.

I enjoyed that.
You are a great experimenter. I wonder what you would do on a 12 string C6 with that tune.
I looked up the author (Mason Williams) and discovered he´s also a TV script writer, did all the Smothers brother´s series and some Saturday night live and lot of other stuff.
There are some seriously talented people in this world.

Delightful as always Roy! I remember the tune well ...and Jeremy is right ..Mason Williams was 'writer' for the Smothers Bros show..and often played guitar during musical interludes with them on their TV show from time to time. He made that tune a classic and you've embellished it wonderfully! Thanks for sharing it. (It's beyond my capability I'm sure.. but I'll save and listen to it for inspiration)  dan |

Thank you everybody!
Many years ago, 25 maybe(?) there was a
Special TV program on The Guitar and it
started off with Mason playing his composition of this song on a Transparent
Plexi-Glass Classical Guitar. I wonder what ever happened to it??
I tinkered with the song on my Classical from time to time over the years and recently
finalized an arrangement and transcribed it this week to my Lap Steel... et Voila..the
current clip.
I remember at age 15 or so asking my Hawaiian
guitar teacher if learning to play standard
guitar also would put me at a dis-advantage
in learning Steel Guitar. His response was:
"No, one will help the other" That was certainly true in my case.
