That is Justin Tubb................no question about it. I need to work on the steel player.....we never get a clear shot at him throughout the song. |

The steeler gets up into "Hughey-Land" using B & C pedals together....could it be....?...but yet the reset of it does not sound like John.
Justin had such a wonderful sadness in his voice. He deserves a much better place in history as a singer than what he seems to have. |

Great song I don't remember hearing before. Is it Russ Hicks on steel?

This particular recording of "Believing It Yourself" is not the original. The original is on the "GA/Challenge" label. That being said,Challenge was a west coast label. The steeler on the very "stock" Challenge recording had a very "Mooney-ish" style, however, not the tone,so it's hard to tell who it could've been. It could've been Jimmy Day. The recording on Walter's site was a much more "polished" version of the song.

Well, I would like to say that it was me but it was not. There was a couple of spots that sounded like it could have been me but the rest of it didn't. I couldn't remember recording with Justin unless it was an overdub a long time ago. I did play behind Justin a few times many years ago.

I am glad that I was not totally off the wall.....John, I am glad there were a few places that sounded to you like it could have been you. We look forward to hearing you in person again soon. |

Anybody got a clip of 'Mine is a Lonley Life' by Justin? Now there was some first-class playing, (by BE I'm told.) |
