Hi folks,

I know that most people who frequent the No Peddlers forum are based in the USA. I think it would be interesting to know where all lap steelers here are from, how we are spread over the globe. I know that over here in Europe, lap steel is something quite rare.

Well, I'm from Stockholm, Sweden, but living in Brighton, UK.

How about you?

Have a nice day!

I am from Asheboro North Carolina(The Center of the state, home of the NC State Zoo)...I now live a little north of there in Level Cross(Home of NASCAR race driver Richard Petty)...the Pettys live about 1/2 of a mile from me, & hire me a lot for partys at their house. I have spent my youth in traveling bands playing all along the east coast from Florida to New York, based out of NC all that time. Good times!!!

Like Dan, I'm located up in the dark, wet northwestern corner of the "lower 48" states.

I'm originally from the bright, dry southwestern corner -- San Diego, California. I found my way to Seattle via the People's Republic of Berkeley and Boston.

And while I find myself missing the sunshine at this time of year, the only way you could get me to move back to southern California is in handcuffs.

Born in the panhandle of Texas, close to where Bob Wills lived. Lived on Western Swing. As child moved all over the Southwest from Texas to California.
In 1961 and for 14 years, my fantasy of living in Hawaii came true where I could continuously hear those sweet Hawaiian steel guitar sounds.
In 1975, moved to San Diego California for three years to complete doctorate. Picked up a wife and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan for 27 years. Great place to raise a family. Midwest Values.
I have now ended up in my more mature years in Vancouver, Washington where I am awaiting new challenges, meeting new friends, and enjoying the beautiful Northwest scenery.

Come on over, y'all.

Aloha,
Don

Lemon (the fruit, not the Yugo) capital of the world, Claremont, California __ small, clean, warm and lemony fresh. It will beat big, dirty, sub-zero and smelly any day of the year.

I posted this before:

My father's family arrived at Ellis Island in 1921. Half the family went to Southern California, half went to Detroit. Guess which half I got!

Now I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Home of the University of Michigan (my boss), Domino's pizza, UkeTone Records and Borders Books.

Ann Arbor has been described as "24.6 square miles surrounded by reality". It's the truth.

I'm from the northern-most county,(Keweenaw), in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We're surrounded on three sides by Lake Superior and have 9 months of winter and three months of tough sleddin'. Plenty of time to cuddle up with you favorite guitars.

You should subscribe to Aloha Dream and you'd find there are MANY players even in your own county..
