I know Buddy Emmons has played the tune countless times. When Scotty came out with the anthology of the steel guitar there was an instruction tape with it. On the back of the tape is a live version of Blue Jade with Buddy and who I think is Phil Baugh on guitar. Does anyone know what album this is on? A live version of Danny Boy is also on the tape. Scotty does not remember and I cannot find anyone that knows. Any help would be appreciated. thanks Winston May

The Blue Jade live with Phil Baugh on guitar was done at the Steel Convention 1979. There was an album /tape of that steel show L.P.

Reece Anderson, Lloyd Green, Buddy and Doug Jernigan each shared two cuts on that L.P. I think all of it is super! These 4 Giants of steel do it right on that live Convention production.

I don't know of a tape with live Danny Boy but could have been a show/talking seminar by Buddy.

Yes, I forgot to mention;

Reece's two live cuts of that L.P. are on the Maurice Anderson CDs that the Steel Forum offers well worth the price of the CDs.

Thanks Terry. Now that you mentioned that it seems Scotty was thinking along those lines. I appreciate the info. winston may

The guitar solo on that version of Blue Jade is one of my favorite guitar solos ever. That cool phaser and those tasty licks. He plays that one decending pentatonic run in there that just kills me every time. I always wondered why that song got nixed from the CD. I guess since the original vinyl was released in 2 volumes, they had to cut a bit to fit stuff on the CD. Personally, I would have never cut that song. Heck, I named my audio mastering business after that cut.

My copy of the tape from Scotty's Anthology has "Danny Boy" from the black album, not live. And Brad, amen, that Phil Baugh solo is mighty fine!
