Thought I'd post this here, instead of another forum where it might not be seen. Sorry.
Anyway, me and a couple buddies from the music school out here are making a pilgrimage to Nashville around the last week of May, first week of June area. I was going to see what I could do to find one or more steel lessons out that way. Also, my two friends are 6 string guys, and I was wondering if anybody had any contacts out there who might be able to stand giving a couple Telecaster picking lessons for them.
Post back or e-mail me if you can help us.
Thanks in advance,
-Garnett

Mike!!
There Are A few options for Both
your self and your guitar playing buddies
Mike Sweeney Gives One One Lessons Im Not Sure If he Is availble or wants to take on a single day student .. but he is one of the greats in town and a guy could learn a load from him in a day .. if he dosent reply to this or see this post in a day or two e-mail me and i will see if i can contact him for you ..
also joe wright i understand has opened a steel guitar school in nashville
joe travels a bunch and i dont know if he is availble either but i think you can get in touch with them both right here on the forum .. mike would know about a guitar teacher as well for your friend..
i hope this helps ..

Thanks for the quick reply, Al. I got an e-mail from Mike Sweeney today. I've got a huge book by Joe Wright here, and I'm not all the way through it yet. Can anyone comment on his 4 pick style? Could he still help out a 3 pick guy like myself?
Thanks a bunch.

Yes, all of Joe's techniques are adaptable to playing with 3 picks. |

Speed Comes With PRACTICE
And A Whole Lot Of Yrs Of It..
It Dosent Matter How Many Picks You
use.. and to answer your Question
im sure the 3 pick thing is fine with joe.. remember not too many players out there where 4 picks it works for joe but it may not for me or you ..
mike can also show you A ton of speed pickin... he doesnt need to take a backseat to anybody when it comes to speed ... its all in That Right Hand ..
and practice..

Larry got the joke!
Besides, everybody knows that if just slapping 4 picks on made you faster, everyone would be doing it.
But they'd still play slower than me, because I have a red guitar, and Jeff Newman told me that all red guitars are faster than any other guitars. Even if I played with a flatpick.

Sorry I haven't gotten back with you guys. The trip is sortof up in the air right now, depending on whether my buddies are going to stay in town and/or get jobs.
I'll keep in touch, but it's looking like we won't make it right now.
