Hi gang, I've been lurking here on and off for a while. I was a musician/songwriter in Nashville for over 25 years playing mostly banjo and rhythm (I can tell you the banjo player never got the Porsche or the girl.) But, no one loves steel more than me! I am now living in Athens, GA to help shore up some difficult family situations. I still get up to Tunetown now and again to work on a project or two, though.
I am currently looking for a '73-'78 SB LDG to play. Help me out here! LOL!! (I did talk to Lloyd today and he me got onto Ricky D.)
I was lucky enough to play with most of my steel heroes during my Nashville career....damn, I was in heaven! No wonder I sold that Emmons years ago and never looked back. Heheheh. But, the bug has struck again.
I look forward to interacting with all of you and picking up a lot of help. Thanks for letting me in here.[This message was edited by Buddy Blackmon on 07 December 2004 at 07:46 PM.] |

Well there's Fred! Long time, no "C"...D, E or F for that matter. LOL!
I talk to Russ and Laney often, Fred. Your name comes up from time to time...in a good way. Maybe I'll come up for the June Jam this year.
Thanks for the welcome, folk! I spent a year in Paris one month with Eddie Mitchell. LOL! |

Buddy,
Like everyone else, I welcome you to the forum. Like you, I spent some years in the Nashville, and the forum has been a great way to catch up with some old friends.
Hope to see you at some of the steel shows.

Hey, Buddy,
I've never met you, but I've played several gigs with your brother, David, and we've got lots of mutual friends(Doug Flowers, etc.)
Would you tell some Lester Flatt stories for us |

Welcome Buddy to the biggest music family there is. You will find much info and plenty of help here. If nothing else just readimg the topics and comments to me is a blessing. I hope you get as much joy out of playing the steel guitar as I have. |

Buddy ,
welcome..A friend of mine has just traded a "LDG " PP to Bobbe Seymore for a Legrand ll. Yes it is and Emmons. It should be at Bobby's now. needed a little work, pull rods out of adjustment, wrong hands got into it..I have played it several times and it is a great ax for my money....Tell Bobbe it is the guitar from Edgewater, Fl. Traded in last week........you'll love it....Good luck.. Jennings.........
I play steel for the beautifull angelic sound of it........

Welcome to B.B......folks, this guy is the real deal, a world class musician...I remember when he came to town in the early 70s...he had to start somewhere so he became a roady for the Barefoot Jerry group, however, it didn't take long for us to find out what a great picker he was (banjo and bass) so eventually he was on the bandstand with us more than slinging amps. He started doing sessions and worked with Jerry Reed (you don't work for J.R. if you're not a great picker) and also got real heavy into song writing and co-wrote a #1 hit for Randy Travis called Back in 1982. I'm not so sure I like the idea of him getting a steel...he has the potential to become DANGEROUS.
Welcome to the forum, Buddy. |

You are TOO kind, Russ! You are one of my main heroes, but I think you know that...even if you are from West Virginee and married WAY up.
Also, thank you Jerry for the e-mails and input.
