Well the time has come for me to move forward musically. Any suggestions on how to start finding groups or bands who play jazz that would consider letting an "Ole Country Boy" sit in with them as I attempt to EXPAND into that realm of playing? I've made a few jazz festivals and haven't had the nerve to approach any of these pickers and say "Hey, ever consider using steel guitar?" Any suggestions or experience in this area would certainly be welcome.

Find you a copy of "The Real Book". Learn all the tunes in it and then you will have no problem sitting in with a jazz group.

Bill...ditto's on what Bill H. said!

A couple words of advice: don't play too many 6 chords and don't call 'em "Pickers"

Good luck & let us know how it goes!

Thats the beauty of Jazz...........the fact that there arent rigid guidelines, you should find some cats who might be a little more experimental than youe average rock or country band.
