There's a great "honky tonk" album out by a new artist named Moot Davis. The record is produced by Pete Anderson (who produced all of Dwight Yoakam's albums)and features Gary Morse on pedal and lap steel (as well as banjo and Dobro). This has become one of my favorites. It's very traditional and Gary plays the perfect parts for this type of music. I think the album can be found on Amazon.com -- it can definitely be found on littledogrecords.com Has anyone else heard this album yet?

Haven't heard the CD, but I saw Moot Davis at Viva Cantina on Tuesday night. Unfortunately there was no steel player, but otherwise I thought they were good. Would like to hear them live with a steel player...

I'm sitting in with the opening act for Moot this Saturday. Looking forward to hearing him. I heard Pete Anderson will be playing the 6 string.

Ben, I really don't know much about him. I just took a gig and heard that Pete Anderson was in the headliner. Check out his website.

Boo, thankyou for the comments on Moot's cd. It was a lot of fun playing on the cd and having a chance to use my old double- neck Fender "stand up" non-pedal steel again. Is there a chance you will do some touring with Moot at any point? Seems to me like that would be a great playing gig!

There is actually a lot to check out on littledog records. You'll also find Tom Brumley playing steel on some of Scott Joss's records and if you like country, west coast style, you'll love it. Pete Anderson's production of course.
