Within GoldWave, I flashed to disk a Dave Van Ronk version of "Wanderin" and re-recorded this MP3 file in 2 halves. The full song comes in at about 3.50MB - way too big and cumbersome to send via email.
So that is why I recorded it again in 2 parts.A 1.75MB file will go thru most emails
easy enuff. But when I double-checked the MB's for the 2 separate song files, they both came in exactly as the full version - 3.50MB.
So what gives here? I did get some help from Craig at GoldWave and he thought I may have SAVED AS with the same BITRATE as the full version.
Anyway, can anyone explain this away for me?
As always, I appreciate everyone's input.
Thanks.....Chipper |

I'd like to hear what's up with this too.
I use Sound Forge, and just cut an MP3 in half to test this. It's as expected, half the file size.
You gotta be making some mistake Chip.
Did you listen to both new files to confirm you really split them? Have they both been saved with the same resolution as the original? |

Chip, you might want to try using some other sort of file transfer. There are several options.
1.) Put it on a website and let them download from there.
2.) Use a file transfer program like an FTP server.
3.) Use a sharing program like Morpheus, Kazaa, Napster, or the like.
4.) If both of you have the newest version of AOL Instant Messenger, you can definitely send files between the two of you that way.
5.) The same results can also come by using the DCC send options in IRC, if you have that program.
Those are just a few of the ways you can send the file without having to worry about chopping it up into "email-able" sizes.[This message was edited by Michael Garnett on 11 December 2002 at 10:07 PM.] |

Thanks Joey and Michael,
I never thought of using like Morpheus or
LimeWire etc.
Yeah cutting it in half is a pain, alright.
Thanks again, fellas.
