| I thought I would start this topic to see what some are using for recording in the studio with digital boards. I am using an Evans DP2R Preamp. I record with my preamp to an ADAT and then dump it to the board. This works really well and adds warmth to the sound when dumped on a digital board. I sometimes use my amps and a good condensor mic. I have had good luck with this. I find that it is tough however to get a good warm sound straight into a digital board. What are some of you using especially with a digital board to warm up the sound? Amp modelers, other preamps,etc? |

| Hope to see you in Gulfport on Aug.5th, my friend. The last two sessions I've done have been with nothing more than a D-10 Carter with XR-16 p/u's. I ran straight through the board with no effects other than a little reverb on the board. Quiet as a mouse with humbuckers. Only effect that I used was what's called stacking steel parts on some intros and endings. I just simply played the same thing twice on two separate tracks and it was mixed that way for a big and full sound. See ya! |

My chain is: Guitar-->Volume pedal--->Lexicon MPX100 delay--->solid state preamp w/tone controls--->mixer--->Fostex D-80 recorder.
I mix down to stereo into the computer.
I just started a gospel album. Here is a sample of my sound on the first song.
Naturally there is a loss of quality after I converted to 48bit mp3 for this posting.

| John, that really sounds good. Your tone delivery is good and I am partial to gospel music, it really sounds great. Hey Billy, your tone would sound good if you plugged into a jam box, you ALWAYS sound good. We need to play a set together one of these days at Gulfport. Looking forward to seeing you. And for all you guys out there, don't forget Carr's Steel Guitar shop, Billy Carr has everything that you will ever need for steel guitar. He is reasonable and a wonderful person to deal with. I highly recommend him for all your steel needs. |

I like using my Evans Preamp with some reverb and delay right directly into the board......clean and quiet........with my Carter with the lxr 16's......great sound and tone.........HAL
