I have been using the PODxtPro rack mount unit with my WEBB 6-14E for a while with very little problems. Straight into the input jack.

Now that I am using a NV 112 with the POD, it is producing a hum that I cannot figure out.

PODxtPro--->input of the NV 112(gains of 112 on 5)

This is before any gain on the POD is introduced . . both the Channel Vol and Output gains are completlely down. I get a hum. I have taken the POD out of it's rack ...I do not think that it is a grounding problem. I have flipped the ground switch on the back of the POD also.

If I plug the POD into the Power amp in of the NV 112 it (the hum)goes away but then so does a bunch of tone. I don't mind using it like this, but wish I know what the deal is with the hum.

POD users or anyone else...any suggestions??

Thanks in advance

Try the POD gain and channel volume all the way up. That gives maximum signal to the NV112 preamp and may help if it is a signal to noise problem. Also, be sure the POD is set for going into the front of a guitar amp, not line in.

I have a POD XT, not the rack mount model.
I run it between the volume pedal and the NV112 amp input. No hum. I have mine set for (I Think it's called studio) not the setting for an amplifier input as I find it loses a lot of tone in that mode(that was a problem with the last POD XT firmware upgrade, they changed the default to something other thn studio and it trashed the POD XT).

I don't use any amplifier or speaker modeling, just use the POD XT for effects. But, I have used one of my modeling programs and there wasn't any hum.

Make sure there is no hum just going from your volume pedal directly to the NV112 input. Maybe just a bad cord?

I don't know if this has anything to do with your situation but.....
I had a slight line hume ever since I went to the POD . It wasn't annoying at stage volume but when things were quiet you could hear it. This went on for weeks until I was juggling my cables one day and moved the POD power supply. As I moved it toward and away from my guitar cables the hum disappeared and reappeared. All I did was make sure the guitar cables and the power supply were a couple of feet apart. No more Hum!!!

Tim,
Try using the POST EQ effects loop on the amp and see if it makes the hum go away. I've had effects hum til I ran them thru that patch.

Ron hit on a good point - the POD XT power transformer. We had that one time with a POD XT on our last club anniversary show. Moving the power supply away from the guitar cords took care of the problem.

However, I've since run cables near and across the power transformer and no hum.

I have the rack mountedversion. That will not work. But, I will try the post EQ loop idea.

Thanks Dennis...you rascal you.
