I currently have a BL910 on the E9th neck of my new Zum and was interested to hear what other guys are using. NOTE: Humbuckers only! How does the BL XR16 compare. I feel the BL910 is a little brittle for my tastes and I'm looking for fatter mids etc. What do you think?
I have a 710 on the C6th neck and it is awesome - just perfect for my C6th, but I feel the 910 is not quite what I'm looking for on E9th. I would appreciate some input and comments from you other Zum players.

I'm surprised that you find the 910 is too brittle, because I think it has less high frequency response than all the other pickups.
I think 710 is too bright for the Zum guitars.
XR-16 is a great pickup for Zum, kind of like a modern version of the old 705.
My favorite pickup for Zum now is Jim Pitman' Tonealigner. |

Paddy,
Your post has me baffled also....The BL710 to my ear's is overly brite ....The 910 on the other hand is much darker sounding than the 710 by a long shot ...I would guess if the BL910 is STILL not dark enough for you, try a George L 10-1..
The 10-1 I have found to do wonders if you are looking for a very full bodied tone without any brite overtones....It's a very FAT sounding pickup and is a humbucker like you asked for ... GIve it a shot ....Jim |

Hi Guys, I agree the 910 should should be darker, which is what I was expecting it to be, so I'm suspecting it might be adjusted wrongly in height (it was on the guitar when I go it 2nd hand) - I will check that out. I have a GL10-1 on the E9th neck of my MCI and that sounds great. I will have a bit of a play around with the height and see if I can improve things.
