I'd like to replace both the 4700mfd/55vdc and 1000mfd/35vdc filter caps in my Peavey Vegas, but I'm having a hard time finding a single source for both. Any help would be appreciated. |

4700mfd/55vdc axial PN 31-530 == 4700@50
radial = 31-535 == 4700@50
1000mfd/35vdc axial PN 31-330 == 1000@35
radial = PN 31-335 = 1000@35
You may wanna first call Mike Brown at Peavey and see if there's anything "special" about the 55 VDC requirements to confirm that a 50 VDC will do.[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 21 October 2004 at 08:01 AM.] |

You can up that 4700 value for a bit more punch and reserve power. I like 6800uF in the Peavey's like that. Panasonic makes really good ones. You can find them at Mouser or Digi-Key. I think they range from about 6-8$ each.

Thom, stock Peavey parts are available from the factory by calling toll free at 1-877-732-8391 and select the Parts Department option.

Thanks for the replies gents. I've searched the mentioned electronics houses pages already, but can't find axial 4700uf or 6800uf (or anything between) rated at more than 50v in stock. I tried calling Peavey today but after 1/2 hour on hold, had to go back to work before I could talk to a human. Sure would be nice if there was online parts ordering available there. Anyway, I'll try calling again first thing in the morning. I have found a site selling 4700uf/55v for $15.75 each at http://www.vibroworld.com/parts/tech15.html. If I can't get through to Peavey I might bite the bullet and go that route. Anyway, thanks again. |

Thom,
Don't know why you had trouble getting Peavey.
Everytime I've called the parts departement, it has been answered promptly, sometimes by Mike.
A couple of months ago, I needed to replace the caps in my NV400.
I bought them from Peavey, the price was $8.77 each for the 4700, 55 volt caps.
You are correct in not using 50 volt units.
Electrolytic Caps don't like over voltage.
The voltage on that supply rail is 52 volts.
Even the extra 2 volts will shorten the life of the cap.

Like the distributor said to the spark plug...timing is everything. I got through to Peavey with just a 5-10 minute wait this morning and parts are on the way. Thanks once again. |

It's harder to find axial leaded caps in that size than radial leaded. If you can settle with radial leads, it'll be easy to find them.
