| Hi folks, I quite for several years and now I've broken the string on one of my volume pedals. What seems to be the ideal string(or other material)to re-string a potentiometer pedal? Thanks |

Hey Marty, Geo l's offers a replacement string I think....available from many of the vendors that sell PSG accessories. Probably also available from the Goodrich boys. Someone stated they used the braided twine available at hdwe. stores. Don't know about that...it would have to be the heavy duty tight braided stuff and a ball of that would be expensive, relatively speaking, way more than a replacement string.

| I have never had the string break on my volume pedal. I was told years ago to use trot line. Any good sports store would have it where the fishing tackle are sold. |

Fly fishing line is probably the closest, but I have for twenty years used a standard nylon poly boot lace, sans the spring, and wrapped it around a screw head that replaced the allen screw, flattaning the head on one side so it wouldn't hit. Have used the same string for probably twenty years.

I've had pretty good luck with some landscaping cord that I had in my garden shed. I think I got it at Home Depot.
Question: The spindle on my volume pedal is shiney smooth steel. I was thinking of roughing up the spindle with a file to increase friction and prevent slippage. Has anyone tried anything like this? |

I have found out that "leader" fishing line works good. I keep a spool of that in my pack-a-seat at all times. You can buy that in any pound test your little heart desires.

Bobee Seymour actually has the yellow string used by Goodrich as well..cheap..
Suggestion for all those that have not broken a string yet..
Take the bottom of your foor pedal and take a look at the way it is strung..draw a picture..do it now.How many windings around the pot axle in full position ...
Put the picture in your pack-a seat along with whatever cord you are going to use.
You will thank me for this someday..
It will be the difference between actually fixing it quickly on a gig or perhaps not fixing it at all !

| I can't guarantee it, but that yellow string in my Goodrich pedal sure looks like the stuff construction workers use to make a chalk line. Home Depot, Lowe's, etc should have it. |
