I'm curious.I've heard allot of fine comments about the 112. Is everyone using the stock Blue Marvel speaker, or is the 1203-4 BW an option that most go with? Has anyone tried EV's or JBL's or Altec's? What were the results? Inquiring minds----- ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif) |

Im curious too. I believe I recall hearing about a higher performance Blue Marvel for the Nash'112's. If thats true...are 1203-4 Black Widows still available, or have they been replaced by BM's? For some reason its been difficult to get some clear info on this. |

ALL Peavey Nashville 112's ship from the factory with the modifed Blue Marvel speaker.
Some dealers are offering to install a BW 1203-4 in the amp.
If you haven't tried the stock amp, I recommend you do before modifying it. I think you'll be satisfied with the amp as is.
You can stop in at our booth at the TSGA show or our shop and road test one for yourself.

I agree with John. Try the Nashville 112 out with the stock Blue Marvel speaker first and I think that you will be pleased with its performance. However, I've heard that a few players are opting for a Peavey Black Widow speaker and like it very much. The Nashville 112 is equipped from the factory with a Blue Marvel speaker.

For me, that amp is just fine the way it is!! I've thought about putting a BW in it but to me it would be money wasted. Unless you're the type of player that drives it hard, maybe then I would consider it.
When I play out it's at a certain volume and that's it!! Anything over that isn't enjoyable and I'm not fighting volume on stage!! I set my pre-gain on 3½ and master-gain at 5. I also go out of the XLR in the back into the PA system and I love it!! I found my amp!!! My two cents, good luck. Loren.[This message was edited by Loren Morehouse on 04 March 2004 at 09:31 AM.] |

Well, I left the TSGA show with a new Nashville 112. I haven't had time to try it with a steel yet, but I really like the sound I'm getting with a guitar. I like a really clean jazz guitar sound and this amp does it nicely. The EQ is very flexible, and the reverb sounds great, much better than the last couple of Peavey Bandits I've used. I'm surprised at the low end it will produce and the clarity of the low end, even with an open back cabinet, and the Blue Marvel speaker. The weight and size are perfect for a small gig, or a small jam session.
I'll try it with a steel in a few days and post my thoughts on that application later. I think the Peavey boys have taken care of another need in the Steel Guitar world, thanks guys.

It was great to see everyone at the Peavey booth in Texas this past weekend. I must say that the acceptance of the Nashville 112 has been nothing short of phenomenal. The Nashville 1000 is "holding its own" as well. Thanks to all who attended.
Just a note. One of the objectives of the Nashville 112 project was to offer a lightweight amp, and by installing a Peavey Black Widow speaker, the weight will increase slightly.
Thanks for your support of Peavey products.

I have to say i'm truly amazed by how good my Nashville 1-12 sounds, (factory speaker). They really got it right with this one. I use it in stereo with my Nashville 1K, and it really holds it's own. Sounds great on it's own at small venues or for recording. I'd have to hear one with a black widow to be convinced that it could sound any better.

The nashville 112 is great right out of the box. Its the FIRST Peavey amp that I have no criticism about. Great amp for price, weight, and fidelity. |

Well I've been playing one of my '75 Emmons P/P's throught the N 112 for the last couple of days and it sounds great. I have used some sort of delay device for the last 25 years to add sustain and "thickness" to my sound. I've been playing through the 112 just using the reverb in the amp, and it doesn't need any delay in my opinion, it sounds great as it is. Here is how I have the controls set at this time and it sounds good with both C6th and E9th necks.
Low +3
Mid -3
Shift 400
High +2
Pres +6
Rev 5
Pre Gain 4
Master Gain 4
IMHO, this amp is a real winner for guitar and steel both. Next, I'll try it with fiddle, mandolin, and acoustic guitar just for kicks.

Just want to say that I picked up a Nashville 112 at Dallas from Ann Fabien and it is absolutly the sound that I have been searching for. Its got a zing to it that I haven't found in other amps while maintaining all the lows and the mids that you need for steel guitar. Its also sounds great on fiddle. It has all the power that I ever need. Played out the other night with 2 other steelers and a loud guitar player and was plenty able to keep up. Making plans to get another.---Henry |

Just for fiddle players info, the Nashville 112 was used on the ballroom stage and they sounded great! Try the Nashville 112 with your fiddle and let me know what you think.

Mike, they do sound great on fiddle. The highs are so crisp and not screechy like some amps. On steel, they sound as if they have built in compression or is it just the curcuitry that makes them sound that way?-Henry |

WOW, I JUST GIGGED OUT WITH MY NEW N112. WHAT A FANTASTIC LITTLE AMP! I WILL KEEP MY 1000 FOR NOW. THE BLUE MARVEL IS A GREAT SPEAKER. I SEE NO NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING. BOBBE SEYMOUR IS A GREAT GUY TO DEAL WITH AS WELL. HE MADE ME A REALLY GOOD DEAL. |

I have one coming in June along with a new Carter S-12U. I can't wait to try it out. I use a Session 400 (have 2 of them at this time) and a 1966 Fender Deluxe (non-reverb) that has a JBLD-120F (old Fender/JBL SIgnature series, grey in color). I love the sound I get with both amps. I can't wait to try the Nasville 112 in place of the Session 400. My back will be happier as well!
I was a t Dallas and must say they sounded great for the fiddle players. I think it would be a great guitar amp as well. I am going to give it a whirl with my Tele and a compressor (if it even needs one!). |

Kevin,
You must not have ever owned a '70s Session 400 w/ the original BW.

Anyone tried a baritone guitar through the 112? I tried mine for one song during a rehearsal and it lacked the twang that I'm used to - even with the top end full up (or am I missing something?). I'm sure there must be a way to make it sound like it should - any suggestions? |

Bob, I've got one up here in Buffalo that my friend owns. It belonged to a famous Nashville player. It doesn't compare in any way with the dynamic range of a Webb, or a Nashville 112 for that matter. This is what I hear. Most of the Peavey amps were severly deficient in my opinion. The Nashville 112 is not. [This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 23 March 2004 at 10:05 AM.] |
