Hi Guys (and gals),

Went to a guitar shop yesterday to help pick out a guitar for my dad. I plugged into the Super Reverb Reissue.

Well, it sounded pretty damn good! I will caveate this by saying, I did not have my 1968 (AB763) amp next to it to compare it to. But this capture that Black Face Fender tone pretty good! I would think anyone would be hard pressed to tell the difference if it was not being played side by side with the real thing.

By the time I finsished running the guitar through its paces, I had the whole store around me checking out the beautiful sounds coming out of the amp!

It may be a pain in the butt for maintenence, but I would not discount using one in the future. Again remember I did not compare these side by side, but it captured "the" sound.

Absolutely. They're great amps!

I just wish they were smaller

I played a MSA D-12 through a black face Super Verb for years and it was warm and wonderful.

Doesn't the "reissue" amps have circuit boards,as opposed to the good ole' hand wiring?

Hi Kenny,

Yes they have PCB. This is actually not a bad thing. But it has been debated a million times. I can get around a PCB board just as easy as a point to point, so I don't see any real advantages or disavantages.

Usually the biggest issues are the quality of the components used in a reissue. I can't really speak of the components on this reissue, because I have not looked inside one. I only played through it.

Bottom line really is that sound great. Maybe better, maybe worse than an original, but I think it stood on its own merrits.

That was really the point of the post. This is a great sounding amp.
