Jerry, I just wanted you and the whole Steel Guitar world to know how pleased I am with that new Pickup you built for me. I am amazed at the improvement in tone and quality of sound that this Steel is now producing. This pickup seems to really bring the Steel to life.
Thanks so much for this fine product.

I just finished installing a pair of TT pickups in my Zum. It just could not sound any better.
Also I really like the slotted mounting holes for perfect alignment under the strings. What a great idea. Larry |

When I went to St.Louis this year, I wasn't sure of what pickups to put in the new guitar Bruce was building for me. After I heard Hal Rugg and John Hughey's sets, my mind was pretty well made up. These are the best I've tried.
Great job Jerry! |

Guys, I am truly flattered and because of your kind words and compliments, I feel like I have made a contribution to the steel guitar that we all have chosen as "our" instrument..
As some of you know, I have invested considerable , time, effort and money into building a pickup that will be an asset to the sound/tone of any steel..It looks like I have made progress in this direction..
I want to thank every one on the Forum as well as Bob for making my pickups a success..

Jerry, you have made a huge, actually unbelievable contribution to the steel guitar. Now, every guitar I have sounds great, some with stock pickups and some with yours.

I just got a "new" MSA classic SS with Jerry's pups. Nice pups as they really enhance the guitar. |

Question: How many ohms are most people using? I like the 17.5k. [This message was edited by Randy Beavers on 05 November 2003 at 03:30 PM.] |

I also have a 17.5 on my Excel 12 string and it gives it that Emmonsy moan but with a more hi-fi top end than an Emmons.I also have one for my Sierra 12 string - also a 17.5 but it sounds quite different on that guitar - more mids. It's a real good sound just different. -MJ- |

19000 TT on a 76 MSA birdseye lacquer U-12. Definitely not the traditional dark MSA tone. Sounds closer to ShoBud. I will be putting a new TT 19000 on my 83 U-12 Zum soon.

hey great true tone user's
i'm also a true tone user too,
and i like to say jerry is doin' a wonderful
job.
in my opinion the best results you can get is with a true tone wind at 17.5 Kohm
you will get than a clear but powerfull bass
no muddy sounding mids and a beautifull high
and all in balance
keep steellin' with the true tone's

I just put one on my Pro-3, (E-9) neck, will be calling Jerry for one for my C-6 soon! What a difference, I think that I had it mounted a little too high to begin with, and I am playing with my amp ajustments. Jerry, Ricky Davis suggested about 3/16" clearance, any input? Again, I ordered my first TT-10 from what I had read here, you guys didn't lie! Thanks, Ron

I just had Jerry rewind two old Emmons pickups for me. The difference in sound is amazing. I can't say enough good things about Jerry's work. So, steelers, don't hesitate, have Jerry rewind your pickups or
buy his. You won't be disappointed. |

I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that Jerry's TrueTone pickups are the BEST darn pickups I have EVER used in a pedal steel guitar....I haven't been playing that long, but I am a keyboard/guitar player as well as playing pedal steel, and have a HUGE collection of instruments and amplifiers, and I DO know tone !!...These pickups have TONE TO THE BONE !!!.....Jim |
