Either John or Mike can probably tell you exactly what it does. To my ears, it adda a boost in the low, and low mid-ranges. Some Peavey amps are seriously lacking in this area, and either the LeMay mod (or the cheaper Peavey mod) will give you more body and fullness.

As some have said "It takes the honky sound out".

This is a problem in most all guitar amps...not enough bottom end.

Hello Marley and Donny,
The Peavey Nashville 400 mod kit will provide a smoother mid range response and it will boost the low end frequencies slightly. It is very important not to overboost the low end frequencies of an amp as it could cause speaker failure. Speaker enclosures are limited as to what frequecies that they can reproduce by size, porting, etc..

Our patented DDT(Distortion Detection Technique) circuit is also a very useful tool in eliminating speaker failure. But, our modification kit will enhance the tone circuit of your amp.

With no offense to Donny, I would like to clarify his statement, "or the cheaper Peavey mod". Our kit is less expensive in price, but not performance. We buy electronic components in "bulk", so we can offer them at a "less expensive" price than a small electronic shop. Besides, electronic components are relativily cheap in price. The labor involved is where most of the cost lies. Since we designed the amp to begin with, we know what its parameters are for proper operation. Check out our "tone enhancement" kits for our steel guitar amps at "www.peavey.com" If you have further questions about any Peavey product, you may contact me at 1-877-732-8391. I'll be glad to assist.
