I have 3 PA 1200 amps in my PA amp rack and I love them, especially the weight.

Stewart Audio does have a web site.

Carter Steel Guitars is an authorized Stewart Dealer.

We can sell any of their amps and tend to stock the 2 we sell most for psg:

Order online here
or
Print out an order form here if you prefer
or
contact us directly if you'd like to order another model amp not listed on our site.

I did side by side tests with a Mosvalve 500, Stewart World 1.2, and my Stereo Steel amp (bypassing the preamp). The Mosvalve sounded the warmest (tubey) but is heavy. The Stewart and the Stereo Steel sounded very close to each other. I decided to keep the Stereo Steel mainly because of the preamp and beaucoup knobs.

I just put the Stewart World 1.2 on Buy and Sell.

But how are they tone wise compared to a Webb or an Evans?

Also, what do you guys think of using two 12"s instead of two 15"s in a stereo setup with one of those stereo Stewarts and maybe the new stereo Evans pre-amp?

Your input is appreciated, guys. Thanks.

HH

I agree with Jim in terms of tone. The Stewart sounds good, but the MossValve is warmer. My favorites are tube power amps. I have been using two different amps (not at the same time): A VHT 2150 with two pairs of EL34s, and a VHT 2190 with two pairs of KT-88 tubes. The first puts out 50 watts a side and is best for rock and blues gigs, the second puts out 90 watts a side, and is better for stone country or jazz gigs. You might think that 90 watts a side isn't enough, but this amp puts out so much clean power that if it distorted, you would want to be in the next room, otherwise you would damage your hearing.
