Every cd I have of "good hearted woman" is a live version does anyone know of a recorded studio version of this with waylon and willie?

Actually the version you have is a live and studio version. Waylon and the band were recorded live and Willie sang his overdubs in the studio.
The original live version of the song, without Willie, was released on a double Waylon Live CD a couple of years ago. It's strange to listen to because it's the same live tracks as the Willie & Waylon version you've heard for 30 years, but every time you expect to hear Willie he doesn't show up, it's all Waylon.

I don't think they ever did a studio duet of the song, at least I've never heard one of it.

The orginal Waylon studio version came out in 1972 on an album of the same name.

You think right, Alvin. There ain't a studio duet (Waylon & Willie) of the song.

This is what I thought there is no studio version, I was hoping there was into wich you would be able to hear the steel better,

Eddy Arnold, Connie Cato, Everly Bros, Tompall Glaser, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Bill Phillips, Charley Pride, Johnny Russell, Earl Scruggs Revue, Mel Street, Nat Stuckey, Ernest Tubb.

Mostly with steel. I am able to emailing them if you want to.
