Another brand new release of historical material, Merl Lindsay & His Oklahoma Nite Riders 1946-1952, incl. several unreleased tracks (also instrumentals featuing a lot of steel!). Steel players include Buster Magness, Tommy Elliott, Gene Crownover, Bobby Freeman.
Great stuff, available at Amazon!
Kind Regards, Walter

Walter,
I love that re-issue stuff. I picked up a CD titled "Hillbilly Boogie" from tower records a few months back. The Leon cuts are excellent. Some of the music might be corny by todays standards but some is timeless.

I have the Merl Lindsay album that Walter references above....lots of familiar musicians and western-swing from the early Merl Lindsay era, 1946-52.
I was playing steel in Merl's last band in 1963-64 when his career was ended by his death by cancer. There are four bandstand recordings on the following URL.

Hey Gene, Send me an email. I have finally found out news about Shawna. I don't want to post it here.
Thanks, George |
