I played a fun set backing a pretty young lady last night. We did squeezebox. Somehow, this song flew beneath my radar--new one on me. The Who?! Where did that come from?
It's a fun song. I felt odd tingly stirring feelings that I couldn't identify as I watched this young lady sing the song. It's about an accordian, right?
(And jellyroll is about baked breakfast goods?)
"Mama's got a squeezebox, daddy doesn't sleep at night........in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out.......

Reminds me of how my bass player's 3 year old daughter used to sing:

"I'll put a nickel in the juice-box
And play that Truck Drivin' Man!"

I do believe that is on the album "By The Numbers" recorded by the "Who".

"Mama's got a squeezebox"
Maybe she's part of this group,

18 Accordions played by girls with pigtails.

I played it for years in a biker band called Torque. Always went over well.

Yeah a fun song, I wonder where Pete's head was that week he wrote it, lol.

I could speculate on exactly where Pete's head was at, David, but I'd get banned from the forum.

"Squeeze Box" was probably written to provide karma balance over the lyrics to "My Wife". "Gonna buy a fast car put on my lead boots and take a long, long drive...",
"Gonna find a tank and an aeroplane, 'cause when she catches up with me won't be no time to explain..."
