The first time I heard Stevie Wonder sing about the birth of his daughter ("Isn't she lovely"), I cried. Since then, there have been a few more. Most recently, Keb Mo's "When Henry plays his steel guitar".
Welllllll? Who'll admit to being touched? |

What Ricky said! I remember that tune at Jimmy's funeral service. It was a very emotional moment |

Attending a very dear friend s funeral. They started the music, "Vince Gill " singing "Go REst High On That Mountain" That really went deep.
Hey man I know what you mran, I`ve shed many a tear just loving that good ole country music. Not sad tears , sometimes , mostly some ole country boy pouring his heart out in song

Well, I almost hate to say it, the way they flame modern country but it happens every time I hear "The Rest Of Mine" by Trace Adkins. For the oldies, it has to be Red Foley's "Old Shep"..............(among others)

Gotta Be IOU by Jimmy Dean.
A Second would be When Santy Comes to Shanty Town.
And So it Goes, by Billy Joel for the Non Country Class I'd guess.
One that actually does get me to cry every time I hear it is "Old Blue" by James Taylor.
Hell, I'm doing it now... |

I believe the correct verb is to "jerk", not to "pull". After all, they don't call them "tear-puller" songs, do they?
Having said that, my answer is 'no' because real men don't cry: at least that's what my psychiatrist told me. |

I have shed many a tear listening to all kinds of music. "Beyond the Sunset" "Go rest high on that mountain" "Little Rosa" "How great thou art" "Going Home" And many more.

A while back I was watching an Austin City Limits segment which featured Chet Atkins. Chet looked a whole lot like my deceased father in the face and mannerisms. Later in the show Chet put on this old hat and sang a song about his dad and although Chet was never much of a singer I think this was one of the most heartfelt things I'd ever seen. I sat in my chair and cried like a danged old baby and couldn't stop. I'm happy that I had the VCR recording the show 'cause I get it out every now and then when I'm thinking of my Pop and get the same results every time. I think Chet loved his dad a lot and I loved mine too. I still miss him.

there are a few pieces guaranteed to bring a tear to my eye:
Buddy Emmons' version of Ennio Morricone's "once upon a time in the west"
Sarah Vaughan's rendition of Lenny Bernsteins' "Maria" (west side story)
Will Smith's version of "Just the Two of Us" (all wrapped up with parenthood) |

Of course! I get teary-eyed all the time listening to songs especially when I sing along; not sure if it's my singing or if singing just transports me closer to the songwriter's emotions.
Two Hag songs that do it for sure are Mama's Hungry Eyes and The Roots of My Raising. The latter song always reminds me of my grandparents on my mother's side - the two finest Christians I've ever known.
See, now you got me crying again...
Jim, it's "Big Girls Don't Cry"...

Hey Jim,
Real men do cry, maybe not often, and maybe not admit it when they do. Alwas get a kick and sometimes I learn something from your posts.

The Chet song Jerry saw on ACL is
"I Still Can't Say Goodbye"
He introduces it by saying, "Everytime I look in the mirror I see my dad."
If that doesn't jerk your tears you ain't human. |

Truth is, "Once Upon a Time in the West" does it for me, as does "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton (about the death of his little boy). |
