Years ago I think I ran across an album by that title by Ray Price and like a dummy never bought it. I cant find any reference to it anywhere,nor have I ever seen it again. Is anyone familiar with it, or did I just make it up ?! It seems that it had, Cold, Cold Heart, Your Cheatin Heart and other songs that had the word Heart in it. Surely I couldnt have made it up, could I ?
If anyone has this album, tell me before I continue my search, if it is the Cherokee Cowboys backup or the strings-if it is the strings, forget it, I wouldnt want it anyway !! |

that is ray's first album, on columbia 1015. kind of a greenish yellow cover with ray in full nudie regalia.
not sure if it is on cd by itself, but all the material from it is on the bear family boxed set which you should not be without. i would guess that most of the songs have appeared on one or another ray price compilation cd.
it is from 1957 or so, long before choruses, etc. in fact, it really isn't in the shuffle style for which he became famous--it is more in a straight country style. the first and possibly best of the shuffle type lps was his second lp "talk to your heart", which i think had "invitation to the blues", "ice cold heart", etc. |

It was interesting to hear part of an interview with Ray Price on NPR a few days ago. I believe it was Teri Gross' 'Fresh Air' program. He described his early career as playing primarily Hank Williams tunes in honky tonks. If I recall correctly, he said that he toured for a while with the Drifting Cowboys after (or maybe even BEFORE) Hank Williams' death but got tired of the repertoire and started migrating toward the shuffles we all know and love. He tried to get away from the honkey tonks too, but realized that it was a fact of life for a Texas performer. 
Anybody else hear that interview? I just caught a few minutes of it in my car while in transit and it was over by the time I got back to the radio.

This is too cool!!! I just visited this site and listened to an interview with Johnny Bush!! I also listened to the Ray Price interview. Heard him do "Ramblin' Rose". Man! It was great Ray Price vocal, but could have used some(just some would've been nice!) steel guitar.
