According to the latest press releases, the recent CBS merger with Viacom will combine CBS cable's operations of TNN and CMT with those of Viacom owned MTV. No mangement changes at TNN or CMT, but Viacom is only interested in revenues generated by its MTV operations. It will be interesting to see how this affects Country Music on cable and the TV broadcast of the Opry in particular. |

The deal is done.CBS is no longer listed on the NY Stock Exchange. 2 key CBS Cable exec's have been let go. Viacom is a huge company, so anything can happen as far as Country Music programming is concerned. It'll take 'em a short while to institute any changes.. |
