Hi Daniel

I'm a friend of Randy Falcon -- I play a D box he made, plus I have a bunch of others by Marc, Junior and other makers. Randy always speaks so highly of your band and I was lucky enough to find your CD at Boarders.

You guys rock and I really like your playing. Are you tuned to Eb9th or something to get in sync with the accordion? I would be really interested in your tuning, cause I play Cajun music -- long distance :- ) -- and I want to play steel in a band besies playing the 10-button box.

Thanks!

Tom, Danny plays standard E-9/C-6. His band plays either a B-flat or D box. When using a D-box, Danny will use a capo on the second fret of the C-6 neck and hold the 7th pedal. (First string tuned to G) Strings 1,3,4,5 give an open A. The same can be achieved on the E-9 neck holding A&B pedals and playing strings 3,4,5,6. He plays a heck of an E-9th as well!

For the B-flat, he holds pedals 5&6 and pulls the 5th string to F instead of F sharp. This gives an open F on strings 2,3,4,5. Most of us use this same tuning although some of the best pickers we have like Jr. Martin still use an open G on the bottom neck and Murnel uses a U-12. Danny is without a doubt a fine picker! I learned a lot from him over the years as well as many others down here.

Danny, Marty Broussard, Murnel Babineaux, Jr. Martin, Rodney Miller, Ricky Dugas, & Richard Comeaux are just about our best pickers down here. I have a great deal of respect for all of them!
Dave

Hi Danny, I've been down on the coast trying to get a few gas plants back on line before winter. I just had enough time to browse the forum and saw this one...first, I hope ya'll are doing well...we came out pretty good...at least our house isn't floating in the marshes like the ones I see everyday in Cameron parish...secondly(and I do this hoping you can keep the guitar)....

Folks, if this is the "black beauty" it was my guitar for several years. If it is the "beauty" I think it's serial #174 or 176L. The only reason I let it go was due to money. If you want the "Emmons" tone this guitar is it. Some folks say that only a few of the SKH LeGrandes have it---this is one of them! IMHO, the tone flows out of this guitar. If someone buys it, it would be nice to know where it goes. Danny, I hope you find a way to keep it. Good luck to you and Judy and call me if you need something, Marty B.

I just looked on Danny's site and it is the "beauty"....like I said earlier, it was mine...there's a bunch memories attached to that one...I learned most of the little I know on it...I was playing it the nite my wife and I got engaged...I was playing on it when I was offered a job with Mark Chesnut.etc....
NOw for the important stuff....I went through the undercarriage just before Danny got it...I think I changed all of the nylon tuners too. I wanted to put a new pedal bar decal but the factory was out at the time. Again, good luck to you Danny; Marty B.

Good one Marty! The little you know? For anyone whoe hasn't heard Marty play, it is a memorable experience indeed. Simply amazing! He is a very modest guy as well.

This guitar is a sweet sounding guitar indeed. Shows very little wear on it.
Dave

Just got Marty's new CD , Really top notch music. Guitar is as good as it get's. Next best thing to having a push/pull without all the tuning issues.
