Some time ago, someone had the idea to turn a dual 8-string into a pair of single-necks. I'm guessing that this is from the early 50's, since it has the trapezoidal pickup and Roman numeral fret markers. A small steel control box has been mounted on the front to accommodate the volume and tone controls, since the controls would've been between the necks. There is an additional blank hole in the control box where there seemed to be a toggle switch at one time. The body area where it was sawn had been painted to somewhat match the original yellowed cream finish. Several holes have been plugged up, and there are signs of this steel once being mounted on some kind of attached stand.
The pickup has been recently rewound by Tom Brantley.
Included is a case made from what appears to be a military ammo box or something similar.
If anyone here has ever seen this guitar in their travels, I'd certainly love to know its history.
Local pickup only, in Boston/New England area.

I would drive down and get this. I'm just a couple hours away. Actually been hoping to get into an 8-string for a bit now. |
