My sister will be in Dallas friday and saturday night. Is anybody playing a country dance gig then ? Or does anybody know where she should look ? She lived there in the 90's and use to go dancing but the places she knows are closed now.

thanks, Bob

I'm only aware of a couple of country-type clubs in Dallas. I don't go there often, and Dallas isn't known for country music.

It doesn't look like either of them has a band scheduled this weekend.

However, if your sister is willing to drive approximately 30 miles:

Bobby Dean and Timeless Country are at The Western Kountry Klub on US Hwy. 287 just north of Midlothian, on Saturday night. The club is approximately 30 minutes SE of downtown Dallas. $15 cover charge. Doors open at 7:00, band starts at 8:30. The bar/dance scenes in the George Strait movie True Country were filmed there. Traditional country, fiddle and steel, family environment, BYOB, large dance floor, very crowd-friendly band. Caveat/Warning/Danger Will Robinson: I will be there this Saturday. Bobby often calls me on stage to sing a couple of songs.

Kelly Spinks and Miles of Texas are at LiL' Red's Longhorn Saloon in the Ft. Worth Stockyards on both Friday and Saturday: 9:19P -12:15A Friday, and 9:19P-1:15A, Saturday. Cover charge is usually $10-$20, depending on the band. Traditional country, adult environment, regular crowd, small but nice wooden dance floor, full bar. Crowd-friendly band with steel and fiddle. Steve Palousek is the steel player. Arrive early. Parking is where you find it, usually on Ellis Avenue (first cross street west of the club). There are a couple of paid public parking lots on Ellis Avenue.

Justin Russell Band is at the Stagecoach Ballroom just east of I35 and downtown Ft. Worth on Saturday night. Doors open at 7:00, band starts at 8:30; $15 cover charge. Classic dance hall, large, wooden dance floor, full bar. I'm not familiar with this band.

Billy Bob's Texas is also in the stockyards area.

I am not familiar with either of this weekend's bands.

Tarrant County is much more conducive to Traditional Country & Western Music. Fiddle and Steel Guitar are found in most C&W Gigs. Stockyards are Jumping.
