I'm a huge Danny Sneed fan. His playing knocks me out. He's right at the top of my favorite's list. I've seen that video ten times and could watch it 100 more times. Great seeing my C6 guru Rick Schmidt on bass |

somewhere in Cave Creek, I guess. the fiddle player I believe was with Joe Diffie for a while and he also plays with a local group called Western fusion, a more contemporary top 40 country band that wears cowboys hats but plays rock music, calling todays country for the most part. he is agreat texas style fiddle player and vocalist.. The drummer is count. He has long history playing in Arizona playing with Jay David Sloan for many many years in the house band at Mr. Lucky’s dates back 50+ years. Anyway, that’s my contribution.. |

First and foremost, Danny is a one of a kind, original player which is so nice to hear. Secondly, after sitting next to Rick on bass for many years, one of the best musicians and players I know. Super cool |

I loved playing in that band!!! That was at the "Buffalo Chip" in Cave Creek AZ with the Pat James band. Pat on vocals, guitar, and fiddle! (He was great if you didn't mind playing the same old 10,000 songs ) Danny on steel (with his uncommon tunings, G6 on the front neck, and Curly Chaulker's version of C6 on the back), Craig Delphia on fiddle and mandolin, Count Erb making an electronic drum kit sound completely organic and swinging! I loved locking in with Count on bass! We had a real juggernaut going for a couple years there!
The only downside of that gig was that we played outside in EVERY weather condition that Phoenix has to offer, and it eventually went from a nice early weekend gig to a late 5 nighter, which got to be a little rough on this old dude living part time between PhX and Prescott AZ. |
