I recently got a Derby that has lower stops on every string. I set up the usual E9 splits on strings 5 and 6 and those work great.
It got me thinking of what might be possible with splits on the C6th neck. So far I only found one by combining the A-Ab lower with the P4 whole tone raise I can get a Bb which gets me a nice C7 chord.
Has anyone found any other useful possibilities using splits on the C6 neck? |

I raise my Es a half to F with a pedal and lower them a whole to D with a lever. the split gives me Eb which is especially useful on top _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

I raise my 3rd string a whole step C- D with ped 7 then lower it a half step with your C-B knee lever for a C#. At the open position you're changing a Em7 to a Em6, strings 2-6. So open position with ped 7 is a Em7,bring in the 3rd string lower and it turns it into a em6. strings 2-6. I use it in Caravan for the turnaround part. Let me know if I need to clarify anything. I could see how that Eb on top would be cool for a Min chord in the open position, as well as an nice A diminished chord.
That split with the B lower and pedal 7 is cool, I don't know why I didn't think of that one!
I've been working on some Barry Harris concepts on the C6 neck and Min 6 chords are a big part of his process. |

Interesting how much a Gm6 is like a C7.The 3 ways to play a Cm6 are open position ped 6, the 3rd fret with ped 5, and the split ped I already mentioned. It sounds like you are getting into m6, I thought this might help |

Making that connection that C9 = Gm6 = Em7b5 was a revelation to me.
Pretty much tripled my vocabulary!
Barry Harris called an Em7b5 chord a Gm6 with the 6th in the bass. |

Everybody lowers their 3rd string C half and it should split tune with P7 raising it whole.
I lower my 4th string A half, as do many with expanded C6th setups, and it should split tune with P7 again raising that one too a whole.
Those are the quintessential splits on C6th I would not want to miss.
More complex setups can have more.
