What I like about the Showcase 41's is, Being made of German nickel-Silver, There is a slight friction on the strings, Plain and wound alike. They seem to be just the right amount of friction, You know the pick is hooked to the string when you apply pressure to the strings, The pick slides and pops off the tip for a clean sound.

I was playing a set of given to me, Slightly bad fitting, JF (Jeff and Fran Newman picks). I wanted a set of metal picks for backup in my seat, I ordered a couple sets of Showcase 41's. I carefully fitted them to my fingers, Fell in love with the feel and connection to the strings.
The JF picks now are in the Go Fish Bag.

I tried a set to stainless steel picks they have no feel of contact with the strings. They seem to just slid on the string. Gives no real connection to the string.

There was a 1 time someone advertised Showcase 41 picks, They had given a Cobalt coating, I wonder if they would act the same as plain German Nickel-Silver.

Bobby,

I have a Cobalt pair. They are very slick.
As for the snap off the strings goes, it's more the shape of the blade.

I've been using the Showcase '41s for about 23 yrs now and I agree with you Mike,,, they are the finger-picks of choice for me by a substantial margin..!! Besides the pair I'm now using I have one set left in the package but I need those for myself. Sorry Mike...

Hope you're well and I hope you find some Showcases somewhere..!! I'll have to watch this post to see how you make out.
