Can anyone tell me the value of this Fender steel

So it’s not a Maverick type pull-release? That would raise the value. A pic of the underside or the changer end would help. Since you can get a new Justice with 2+1 (but a 3 raise/3 lower changer)for $1,000 I would put it in that ballpark(or under) ONLY if the changer was all-pull. My opinion.

It is a pull release changer , i did think this was artist series , maybe not ,
The artist series do look like this .
And yes Ron , its the same student model |

I had a D-10 Artist at one time and regret parting with it.
The Artist series had a different all-pull changer with changer fingers on a knife-edge pivot point (as opposed to finger rotating on an axle). I forget the pickup that was installed.
The Artist necks were raised and the pegheads were installed into machined aluminum blocks, rather than installed directly on the top, like the same period Mavericks.

I think the proper I.D. would be Fender/Sho Bud S10 Student model. The catalog seems to say just Fender Student Model although the body, and changer block, fender badge, keyheads all resemble the Pro series yet pure Fender for sure.
Artist Dual 10 and Single 10 were all pull but with the characteristics noted by Herb and otherwise nearly same as Super Pro underneath.
Neat little guitars all....and unique as well. I acquired an Artist Pro D10 recently and it's starting to grow on me for the quailities I mentioned.
There are a few other threads on the forum if you care to search them out.
Due to the unique factor, I would price it slightly ahead of the mottled contact paper wrapped version Maverick and silghtly behind the lacquered raised neck keyhead Mavericks. |
