I am so sorry to hear this news. Jim will be sorely missed. He was a knowledgeable and passionate lover of all things amps and guitars and a great member of the community.

Very sad news indeed. Jim was honest, passionate, and outspoken, and he will be missed here.
Since there's already been a reply here, I'm consolidating the thread/post ebb started here to this one - he relayed this info from Jim's family:

Very sad news. While I never met Jim, we communicated often over the net. Peace and prayers to Jim's family and friends, he will be missed.

Truly sad. I learned much from him, particularly regarding Fender steels. What will we do without him?

I used to correspond with him often, more on the subject of b-bender guitars than steel guitar. Never met, but figured he was one of the nicer folks on the planet. See you in the afterlife, Jim.

Very sorry to hear about Jim's passing.. He was a kindred spirit. We shared a passion for Fender cable steels, and he forgot more about them than I will ever learn...RIP Jim.....bob

Sorry to hear this, as Jim was one of the more colorful and outspoken contributors here. He was passionate about his music, but most of all, about his gear. I can remember when he first got his Fender cable steel, and came on the forum seeking info about it. I gave him all my insight - tips, tricks and opinions, as I had played one for about 8 years back in the '60s. (It was my only guitar, back then). We had some disagreements, but it was all good as we both benefitted from our many exchanges. I'll miss him, here, as I'm sure many others will.
