Hi folks,

I have a 3x5 Mullen Discovery and a 3x5 Carter Pro both with typical Emmons copedent, including vertical lever lowering 5&10 by half tone.

On the Mullen, I sometimes use the vertical knee lever in combination with either the LKL and LKR to access chords or phrases.

I have found on my Carter Pro that it is really not possible to do those combinations because the vertical cant be held/kept all the way down while accessing LKL or LKR.

Have others dealt with this and is there an adjustment one can make to the Carter vertical lever or an alternative lever that can be installed? I am not super proficient on making parts etc, i can do some things (ie installed a RKR half stop on my Mullen) but anything complicated s etc is probably beyond my abilities.
Any help/suggestions/advice appreciated. Thanks!

-Jim

Hi, Jim. Unfortunately, the vertical knee lever is the only one on a Carter that is not adjustable.

I'm not sure I understand which direction you would like to adjust the vertical lever... but if it's sitting too high, you can fashion something to go around it to make it 'fatter' so that it will be closer to your leg. For example you can wrap an old sock or something similar around the lever and rubber-band it in place.

You may be able to get what you need by adjusting the other levers on the left side, since they do have a tiny screw that allows you to adjust how close they sit to either side of your knee. Maybe take a close look at the Mullen to see exactly how those lever hang and compare to the Carter. For what it's worth, I find using the vertical on my Carter difficult to use, especially in combination with one of the other left knee levers.

I'll try that approach, thank you Tucker!

I don't know about all Carters but the one I'm playing has a tilt adjustment on the vertical same as all the other levers.

Jerry, you're right. I was just poking around under my Carter and found the angle-adjustment (it's the black allen-headed screw).
