A quick report about the new Emmons Resound in a couple battle conditions.
Very loud honkytonk stage: It cuts through the mud while holding its clear rich tone in every register without having to play louder than everybody else. It is musically liberating being able to play a simple low string part and have it be audible and clear. I usually only get to experience that while recording.
I played an outdoor gig where it got pretty cold last night and the tuning was stable. I just tuned the keyhead a bit like usual and everything lined up and remained accurate during the 4 hour gig. No weird fluxuations or inconsistencies. Unlike my non responsive chilled fingers with picks falling off and unintentional shivering vibrato. _________________ Bob |

Bob, is that the shimmer in reverb? Lol. I'm pleased to know how well it handles the outdoors. Good to get a real user experience. Thanks Bob. |

I kind of wish you hadn't posted, Bob.
I really want one but I can't afford it.
'Can't', though, is subjective. 'Where there's a will, there's a way...', etc.
I don't deserve such a guitar but that won't stop me IF I can find a way.
Congratulations! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Make sure you never play one. It will ruin you ! The push pulls always drag me back in no matter what I do. _________________ Bob |

Bob , I think you had or have a Legrande
3?
Any comparison’s , any similar qualities?
Also have you had a few other Push Pull
Emmons?
Is the new one your fave of the bunch?
Thx |

I do play legrand III also.
The legrand III has the counterforce that works so tuning straight up is easy. It also had that Emmons growl and evenness . It’s a great guitar.
The resound has so much more of the shimmer and growl. It rings in a visceral way. You can feel sound in your feet when you push the pedals . It’s a real and perfect wraparound. Everything you have heard about them over the years is true. It’s remarkable. Also like all well set up PPs the tuning is stable and solid.
I have owned several PPs over the years. The resound is as good or better than all of them. There are a couple steels that had certain qualities that I miss in a way. The aggressive Godzilla destroying Tokyo sound that a certain bolt on had or the ability to slice through the mud that a particular 67 had. Put them up against each other I would pick the resound overall. It’s new and built like a Swiss watch. And it does have the sound and feel. Feeling the tone and being able to dig in and change it while playing adds a level of expression. It’s a push pull thing.
The Resound 65 sorta shows how Buddy Emmons got it right the first time. I’ll put up some recordings I’ve done with it recently once I get the okay from the artists. _________________ Bob |
