I have something cool to share!

I used to have a cool clip of Jerry Byrd performing his solo arrangment of "Malguena" in his E9th Tuning. It's missing from my computer and my friend Rick Aiello couldn't locate it either but he did find and send me Jerry's arrangement.

While the original is in 3/4 time, Jerry Byrd arranged in 4/4 with some passages briefly in 12/8 time. As many others did, Byrd freely picked the sections he liked and created variations on those themes in lieu of playing the music exactly as the composer envisioned. Byrd’s rhythmic notation in his hand-written Pro Arrangement was not always crystal clear.

So I have further interpreted Byrd’s arrangement to my taste in places that were ambiguous in his tablature. Byrd played the whole piece in free time, allowing his own feeling to dictate how he played it and changing it somewhat in each performance. So I would take this as a springboard for improvising on the tune.

Enjoy this FREE ARRANGEMENT. Byrd’s brilliance comes through clearly in this beautiful arrangement.

Thanks Andy,

Malaguena was my favorite song the Mariachi band played at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
I Downloaded and will try to figure out. Way beyond my skill level at the moment but when I take this on my skill level will improve, I hope.
