Wonderful!

Yesterday I was listening to some western swing on Spotify and wondered what would happen if I searched "Joaquin Murphy", and there actually is a playlist! I was hoping for some Plainsmen, (which I love), but there were lots of other recordings. Mostly with Spade, however he popped up in Sons of the Pioneers and other more obscure (to me) places.

He really stands head and shoulders among the greats. His articulation is exceptional.

The more I hear of these old solos, the more I realize why he has such a revered place in steel guitar history. I'm gonna have to find more of this stuff! In Honeysuckle Rose you can hear him copying Django note for note. I didn't know that was possible on steel guitar. Pretty unbelievable. Is he using pedals?
