I never have owned a 112 or 1000 but on the Peavey NV400s I’ve had I rarely put the reverb up past 3. I have added a little bit of delay with one repeat and the mix just barely there. I usually run my Nashville amps between 2 and 3.....I was listening to Paul Franklin's sound and it's so sweet but on that edge.

I never cared for the Peavey reverbs. Weak compared to Fender. I use external reverb, either in my NUX/Atlantic reverb/delay unit or in my POD X3. I don't use much reverb (or delay) but to me the Peavey's don't cut it. |

Not specific to NV112 or NV1000, but regardless of whether I'm playing an old Peavey or a newer Milkman, I rarely have the Reverb on less than half.
Probably because I grew up influenced more by oldies than by classic country, I love riding a wave of lush Reverb. _________________ Nickel and Steel. Sad Songs and Steel Guitar.

I’m with Karl. I like reverb. There’s a time for just barely noticing it and there’s a time for taking a bath in it. One setting does not fit all. The only bad thing I have to say about reverb is the tail it leaves when the band does a hard stop ending or break. You need a footswitch to cut it off. |

Fred, I believe Bobby Seymore used a delay before his volume pedal as a trick move on his car crash thing so he could control the tail. Seems like that could work for reverb pedals. |

I use the stock cabinet spring for now. But my preference is the Hard Wire reverb. I can swim in that one for sure.

For the rest of us, one setting doesn't work for everything and everybody. Chalker tones don't work in Bakersfield music, so many players tailor the amount of reverb and tone settings to the song, the tempo, and the acoustics of the venue. Big reverb sounds don't work well with fast playing (unless it's "Surf Music" ), and slow playing normally invites more reverb.
If you're playing in a big hall with hard walls and floors, and not a lot of people, you might use little or no reverb. But a packed lounge with a lower acoustical ceiling, carpet, and draperies might require considerably more to even be heard.
I always urge players to get away from the "one setting for everything" mentality for their tone and EFX that many pedal steelers seem stuck with. You need to offer some variety, you need to fit into each song. How you set your equipment for what you're playing is just as important as the licks you're playing. Remember, you're not just playing for yourself, you're playing to fit in and enrich the music. |

Mr.Donny, you are talking what I've learned just recently. I also use a boss Eq. And together they make most effects more lively for me. My opinion.

When I was using my 112 onstage (semi-retired; now the Half & Half goes to work) the reverb was around 3-4. Not real intense because I like some delay, and absent a little restraint the combination can get just a bit too ambient! |

Aside from when I have my Van Amps Sole-Mate in the signal chain, I will turn the amp's reverb up to the point it's noticeable, and then back it off just a tad. |
