The "Pad, no pad" post got me thinking.
What are y'all using to hold your picks and bar while on a break when you are performing?
Perhaps nothing?
Some folks put the bar within the key head resting on top of the strings.
Others hang a bag off the left end plate tethered to a tuning key.
I recall seeing a guitar with a hole in the rear apron that the bar could be placed in vertically. It would pop up if pushed on. (Excel?)
I had previously just stood the bar on the back apron and placed the picks in a pile close by which proved to be precarious. Vibration or a bump on the guitar would send them flying. The bar would topple over and fall on the floor. I even lost a bar when it rolled out the floor drain portal of a cruise ship I was playing once.

I's a piece of 1/4" thick cherry with cutouts for bar and a shallow dish cut down of the type you would be served ketchup on the side at a restaurant. Thd dish is glued in. The bottom has a piece of non slip rubber padding glued on.

I love tinkering with gear (sometimes to the detriment of more practicing!) and when I saw the "Deluxe 34" (?) plastic bar and pick holder from Sill Supply I bought one, but when I attached it to the leg of my PS I kept banging into it.
So I took an old second mic holder, connected a swivel from some adjustable camera mount, and attached a dowel. Now my bar and pick ride above my effects board (which sits on top of my Steel King) for when I practice. For gigs I can then rotate the unit 90 degrees and attach it to my mic stand.
Now, back to the woodshed!

| The little hole is for a tuning wrench. Pick Pocket pops on and off easily without tools using ball detent pins. |

They say necessity is the mother of invention or something like that. I love when people custom build items to fit their needs.
Your engineering and design is a nice example of that and fits your guitar perfectly . Good on you Jim. |

Got the little device pictured from Steel Guitars of Nashville a few years ago. Can't remember what they called it, but it works fine. Somebody here should know what they are and where to get one.

Johnie, that steel may be our winner today! Any idea whose it is/was?
Ross Shafer's Pick Pocket is an excellent solution. When I changed bars to a larger diameter, Ross adapted my Pick Pocket to fit. Another well thought out component of the new Sierras.
