Just got my new BJS 15/16 John Hughey lite bar about 15 minutes ago and just finished playing a few scales and licks with it!

Man--the weight and feel of this new bar is ,for me, the best! Easy to hold in the hand, too!

Thanks to BJS CO for the building of this great bar and John Hughey for the great idea!!!!

Just curious, how much are they asking for these particular bars, please?
Thanks

Thanks guys for your comment, that means a lot when you do the best you can to make a good bar.
Gene, check with Al Brisco Steel Guitars of Canada, he should be getting his stock and day now.
If you try one out be prepared to take it home with you...you won't leave without it.
Thanks,
Bill

I second that. This is the number one steel guitar accessory, bar none! (Sorry, couldn't resist. ).

Seriously, I received my BJS "John Hughey" bar with Aurora stone a day or so ago, and I love it. Truly a masterpiece of workmanship, and the best tone bar I've ever played with. Thanks for your invaluable contribution to the steel guitar community, Bill.

What is the main difference between the 15/16 Standard bar and the 15/16 `Hughey` bar ?

I am considering calling Al and ordering a 15/16 bar....all this is kinda confusing to me,

Is it the weight that`s different or what ?

Both are 15/16th the Hughey Bar is 12-string length with the weight of the 10-string (drilled/filled center)Bill may respond if-N-when he sees this. Been looking at one myself but already have two BJS bars. I do like the 15/16th diameter though!

Hi Glyn and Kevin,
The 15/16" 12 string bar weights the same as the 7/8" 12 string bar not the 10 string 7/8" bar, there is approximately 28 to 30 grams in an ounce depending on what you are measuring. Like doing machine work with drawings in decimals some shows the machinist that they have +(plus) or - (minus) .0005" / .001", then some drawings shows + or - .005" to .010" thousands of an inch, fractions however may give you a 1/64"th (.015") to 1/32"nd (.032") of inch, the same goes with grams, these bars should be + or - 4 to 8 grams of an ounce from the bigger bar 15/16" to a 7/8" 10 to a 10 or 12 to a 12 string which is very close in measuring weights of an object. There is very little differences in the solid to hollow (same size bar) because we wanted to maintain the sustain and the tone of the bar. John Hughey hit it right on by going this way, the feel is right on, and the tone is there, did not lose anything in tone or sustain. I will say if you try one out, you will not leave without it.
I have to say John knows what he wants, and why he wants it, and I have to agree with him, this is one of the best yet.
I did do some 10 string 1" bars the same way, a 10 string 1" bar will weigh the same as the 15/16, the 15/16 down to the 7/8", the 7/8" down to a 3/4" same lenghts.
I made some 7/8" 10 and 12 string bars, a lot of the 15/16" 10 and 12 string, and only the 10 string in the 1" bars.
All the John Hughey bars are great and good to have around.
If you are a BJS Bar user already, you have a black logo in the back, the John Hughey Bars have a red one in the back looks great, that was Shirley's idea so that everyone would know what bar that they were picking up right off the bat, good idea Shirl Girl.
We have finally got the Red Pouches in also where you can just look in your steel guitar seat and pick up the bar that you want to play with, keeping everything seperated.
Any questions feel free to email or call, I'll do my best to answer your questions. I hope this clears up a lot of questions that you may have had.
Thanks for your inquiries.

I just got my new 15/16 Hughey Lite and it is most impressive. I think the biggest factor is that it is easier to hold on to - which I find gives me better control of the bar, it still weighs the same as my old 7/8 but just seems easier to manipulate! The more I use it the better I like it.

Job well done Bill. thanks

Hi Paddy,
So glad you like your new bar, and thanks to all that are using the BJS Bar.
A lot of work went into those bars.
Enjoy!
