Looking to find the year this was made, and an estimate of resell value. Serial number is F611-21

| Yes, there's one large casting of what Gibson called "hyblum" that runs from the headstock under the fretboard and forms the top of the body. The wood is all screwed on. |

They've sold in the $1100 - $1800 range on Reverb in the past 5 years, with an outlier 7-string going for a good bit more. Most of them seem to be the diagonal tortoise shell alnico pickups with the one CC style being at the top of that range. Seems like I've seen them go on ebay more in the $1200 - $1500 range but they don't turn up nearly as often as the EH-150's, 125's and 100's. I picked up one off the counter at Carter's in Nashville a couple years ago, they're heavy!

Bill, this one I have is probably the one you picked up at Carter's as I bought this from Carter's about that long ago. Small world.

Bill, this one I have is probably the one you picked up at Carter's as I bought this from Carter's about that long ago. Small world. |
That's pretty funny. I remember being quite impressed with it. I would have inquired about it but was looking for a 7-string. Finally found an EH-150 7-string on ebay last year. Was your guitar part of that huge collection of lap steels from an estate that they were going through? I remember seeing scores of lap steel cases in a "do not touch" area of the store. |

I'm not sure if this Gibson came from that collection or not. I remember reading about it. I think it was mostly sold by the time I bought this one.
